NOTE: As of January 5, 2021, there is a new sales and use tax process.
The City has sent out registration letters to existing business with information about logging in to the new sales and use tax system. This letter includes your activation code. After you’ve registered, you will see any open tasks due to the City in your Business Center, and you also will receive reminders by email. City will send out reminders via email.

As an entity engaged in business within the City of Longmont, you are required to have a Sales and Use Tax License. This applies to retailers, manufacturers, wholesalers, contractors, professionals, and service businesses. Charitable, nonprofit and tax-exempt entities also are included. The one-time license fee is $25. License processing may take up to 10 working days from the date the application is received by the City.

There is a one-time processing fee of $25, which may be paid by cash or check. For assistance, please contact the Sales Tax Office at 303-651-8672 or email Sales.Tax@LongmontColorado.gov. You also can visit the Sales Tax Office in the Longmont Civic Center at 350 Kimbark Street.
There is a one-time Temporary Sales Tax license for special events. To obtain a copy, contact the Sales Tax office.
A one-time initial use tax return form will need to be completed and filed by the 20th of the month after the purchased business begins. Please contact our office for more information and to request a copy of the special return form.
You also must register your business with the State of Colorado. Please visit the Colorado Business Express website to complete their forms.
Telecommunication Providers that offer local exchange service in Longmont must comply with the ordinance.
The occupation tax is $7.5718 per line, per year based on the line count provided to the City by the vendor as of June 30 of each year. Click here to be directed to the Telephone Occupation Tax Ordinance.
